Overview:


KiWi Power seeks a Firmware and Electronic Engineer, who is passionate about smart grid technology and the energy sector. The successful candidate will be a resourceful and professional individual who has experience of working with embedded Linux and an appetite to learn new technologies.
This is a permanent position, reporting to the CTO. We offer an attractive package, with commensurate remuneration for the right candidate.
 

Desired skills and Experience:

  • Familiarity with the Electric Imp platform
  • Self-motivated and proactive, able to work with minimal supervision
  • The ability to drive issue resolution through to completion
  • Commercially aware
  • Written and spoken English of a high standard
  • Knowledge of Modbus and similar industrial protocols
  • Experience with mobile data networks (GSM/LTE)

Main Responsibilities:


·         Oversight of third-party hardware platform development
·         Creation and testing of firmware for next-generation platform
·         Supporting the existing installed base of Linux-based Power Information Pods
·         Minor changes to existing C firmware
·         Design and prototyping of electronics (new product development and ad-hoc)
·         Solution design for new customer integrations

§  Education level: Bachelors Degree in electrical / computer / electronics / energy engineering or a subject matter such as IT, Computer Science or Physics

The ideal candidate will have a broad understanding of hardware and software development whilst maintaining a good grasp of smart grid technology. Reporting to the CTO, the role will suit a dynamic individual with a background in engineering who enjoys teamwork and has advanced problem solving and technical skills.

Main Responsibilities:
 
§  Liaising with the Delivery and Sales teams to provide Technology input and expedite the on-boarding process
§  Supporting the existing installed base of Linux-based Power Information Pods
§  Solution design for new customer integrations
§  Ownership of new feature development on the legacy hardware platform
§  Supporting International roll-outs
§  Process optimisation and automation
§  Occasional site visits in support of the Delivery team
